Broadcast Pioneers member Brother Gerry Molyneaux (LaSalle University) tells us that former Broadcast Pioneers scholarship winner Kimberly Davidow is now a reporter for WFMZ-TV in Allentown. Kimberly, a 2009 graduate of La Salle University and president of the Student Broadcast Pioneers, was an anchor/reporter/producer at WETM-TV in Elmira, NY. Also, scholarship winner Steve Jiwanamall has had an article published on page one of The Inquirer’s travel section. Thanks for the update, Brother Gerry!

Bill Cosby was honored by Tufts University in Boston for groundbreaking work in children’s media along with Harvard University psychiatry professor Dr. Alvin Poussaint. They received Tufts’ Eliot-Pearson Award of Excellence in Children’s Media. The award is given to those who create media free of gender, racial and ethnic stereotypes and make a difference in the lives of children. Poussaint was a production consultant for “The Cosby Show” and the director of the media center of the Judge Baker Children’s Center in Boston. The duo also authored a 2007 bestseller, “Come on, People.”

Early last month, Brian Baldinger and Harry Mayes became co-hosts of the 10 am to 12 noon shift on 97.5, the Fanatic. Brian was a Philadelphia Eagle in the early nineties. Currently, he is an analyst for the NFL Network and a game analyst for Compass Media Networks. He also does basketball coverage for CMN.

Michelle Murray, news director Comcast SportsNet, becomes VP of News Programming. Kim Stewart was appointed their Director of Marketing. Lisa Iamurri becomes Senior Account Administrator. Dave Finocchiaro takes over of Engineering Director. The new Senior Marketing Coordinator is Cristin Dunn. Senior Executive Producer for Special Projects is Brad Nau and Shawn Oleksiak is now Senior Executive Producer for Live Events.

CBS 3 Co-Anchor Anne Marie Green and Algernon Allen, her husband, are proud new parents of their first child, a girl. Ailey Lynn Allen was born on March 4th, weighing 8 pounds and 10 ounces. Anne Marie co-anchors on Sunday mornings and is a general assignment reporter during the week. She's been with CBS 3, KYW-TV since October of 2004.

Word is that Amy Freeze, who was a meteorologist at NBC 10 and former host of the station's "10 Show!" is no longer with Fox affiliate in Chicago, WFLD. She was chief meteorologist there. She says that she hopes to stay in the windy city but right now she's trying to figure out her next career move.

We just received word that there will be no more INQlings column (written by Michael Klein) in the Philadelphia Inquirer. After ten years, Michael will now be writing for Philly.com (part of the paper). He'll continue for the Inquirer, including his popular "Table Talk" section. His online "Insider" blog will remain as usual. Good luck, Michael.

This past Friday evening, the Senior Law Center at Broad and Chestnut Streets in Center City Philadelphia honored former radio telephone talk show host Harry Gross at their annual Senior Prom Fundraiser. Harry, as you will recall, was on WCAU Radio and also wrote a column for the Philadelphia Daily News. Proceeds benfitted grandmothers who are raising grandchildren.

Western Pacific Broadcast LLC, a Tampa, Florida, based company has bought a permit to build a commercial television station in the Atlantic City area. They bid $3.8 million during a Federal Communications auction. There is no timeline yet when the station would start to materialize. FCC Regulations say construction must be completed and a license must be filed within three years.
