ON THE HEALTH FRONT:

Herb Clarke’s wife, Barbara, has checked in to tell us that Herb is having serious eye problems since mid-March and was in Lankenau Hospital several weeks ago. He’s home in Beaumont and the Doctors in the Health Center felt he might have suffered a slight stroke. He is continuing to be evaluated. Barbara also told us how pleased Herb was to attend the WCAU reunion and to see “his old cronies.” Clarke is a member of our board and a former president and chairman of the board of this organization. In 1990, Herb was our Person of the Year and he has also been inducted into our Hall of Fame.

We spoke with Broadcast Pioneer Board member Ed Hurst who told us, “well, I flunked the stress test. I flunked the scan test and they tell me I have three blocked arteries, but I feel great.” Ed is waiting for his cardiologist of 40 years to return from a vacation in France to determine what the next move will be, however he said, ”I’m gonna stay well, and I'm really looking forward to the June luncheon and the Tribute to Joe Grady!" We talked with Ed just before press time and he says that he's feeling fine. Okay Ed, we’ll see you at the June 15th luncheon!
