We were recently “on the scene” visiting with students and their teacher/producer at Glenwood Avenue Elementary School in Wildwood, NJ. “Good Morning Glenwood” airs once every two weeks on the school's in-house TV system. The production comes complete with anchors, roving reporters and videographers.
Fashion is covered by the "fashionistas” who report on trends and share with students how to “fashion-up” and what fashion is all about. Sports is a regular segment covering both professional and local teams. There are also regular health updates from the school nurse and a cooking show with students sharing recipes and preparing food.

Mrs. Betsy Heraux told us:
Two years ago we started shooting a video series of what was happening around the school. We decided to expand on that and now have this wonderful after-school program. We do a fifteen-minute show every two weeks, but would like to expand on this and do a longer show on a more frequent schedule. We’re planning on going out into the community to become a bit more visible. We have twenty students involved plus some hands-on helpers. The students seem to enjoy being on camera…. They write the scripts and produce the show. It’s a real opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively.

The students use small hand-held cameras that feed into a computer for editing, which is a skill they are also learning. The administration has been very supportive of the program, but as Mrs. Heraux told us, "we can always use more cameras!” Nice Going, Mrs. Heraux. Teachers like you make a "reel" difference!
DAP (Digital Archival Project) NOTE: We have asked Mrs. Heraux to donate a copy of their best show which will become part of our archival project. You never know when you'll be saving the early work of a future broadcast star.
